Salary has very important significance for human resource management. Scientific salary appraisal scheme, under the premise of guaranteeing fair and reasonable distribution according to work, can motivate enthusiasm and stimulate potential of the staff. In regard of university teachers, they can work independently with relatively flexible time. Based on this, salary appraisal schema becomes more and more important in how to stimulate enthusiasm of teachers, how to motivate their enthusiasm for teaching and research, and how to lead teachers towards positive behaviors. A reasonable salary appraisal scheme has significant importance for the competitiveness of university, for attracting talented people, reducing the loss of talents, improving the satisfaction of teachers, and excavating the potential and creativity of teachers.The existing job salary appraisal scheme of the Economic Management Institute, which has been running for three years, is based on the main development principle of our university, for which we will have a new design in2014. By running the salary data in the past two years, this paper will analyze teachers’position (title), length of service, workload and other indicators. In addition, the paper will conduct a questionnaire survey on whether the teachers are satisfied with the situation or not, and collect their comments and suggestions on the current salary appraisal scheme. In this way, the paper will analyze, seek and find out the key factors in the salary appraisal scheme of the faculty, such as helping young teachers, thinking of teachers’ expertise and workload balancing. On the basis of a full analysis of the current situation and problems, we propose ideas of scientific classification and exerting teachers’ expertise. To be specific, the teachers are divided into categories of teaching-oriented, research-oriented and academic research-oriented; and we determine ways to adjust the workload standards; to establish mentorship; to increase incentives in research. Most of all, the paper proposes an explicit salary appraisal scheme.
