The period in junior middle school is the key stage for students to learn English. With the spread of new curriculum reform, communicative teaching method is being widely applied to English class. The interaction between teacher and student is increasing to stimulate student’s interest and lead them to participate in studying more actively. Teacher’s feedback refers to teacher’s verbal or non-verbal response to student’s study behaviors, such as questions and answers, performances, operations, involving with the communicative language, form and content or other information in English class. As an important part in the interaction between teacher and student, teacher’s feedback is the main language input source for students. Teacher’s effective feedback is the reflection of respect on student’s subject position in teaching. It also has positive effect on student’s language acquisition, cognition and emotion, which can create a good environment for the interaction between them. On the contrary, teacher’s ineffective feedback has some bad impact on the interaction, which is harmful for student’s language acquisition. Correspondingly, it’s significant to do some further study on teacher’s feedback in the interaction. At the beginning of the research, there are some theoretical clarifications on feedback and teacher’s feedback during the interaction between teacher and student. It includes the production of content, the gradualness of process and the diverse of interactive methods. Then based on some related language teaching theories and the physical and psychological characteristics of students in middle school, some clarification on the values of teacher’s feedback for teaching and students are made. Combined with the connotation of teacher’s feedback in the interaction, the paper focuses on three teachers from M middle school in Mianyang, Sichuan province, with some study methods, such as classroom observation, recording and some interview. Through the research of20different classes, the current situation of teacher’s feedback has been found, which are as follows. Teachers pay attention to the use of various feedback methods in the interaction. As for verbal feedback, there are some positive feedbacks, such as simply praise, repetition after praise, guiding the students to correct themselves. There are also some negative feedbacks, such as direct criticisms, neglect, and restatement. Naturally, it also includes some different non-verbal feedback, like some facial expressions, such as smile and frown. Some head movements also related, such as nodding or shift of head. By contrast, teachers use more verbal feedback than non-verbal feedback in their classes. According to different class types and different interaction subjects, teachers take different feedback methods with different effect. The frequency of using different feedback methods is also different. However, there are also some improper feedbacks in English class, which involves too much use of acknowledgement and indicative feedbacks, which can easily bring students some adverse emotional experience. Moreover, some characteristics of teacher’s feedback are also found in the process of study, such as the feedback’s initiative and diversity, or the assistances and contradiction of teacher’s feedback. With the previous study of teacher’s feedback status and the influence factors, some improvement suggestions for teacher’s feedback are put forward at last to find some enlightenment on the optimization of teacher’s feedback in junior English class. Specifically speaking, pay attention to the improvement of teacher’s feedback ability and the differences appeared in feedback as well as the presupposition and generation of class. Besides, students’emotion should be concerned in the process of feedback. These suggestions are presented to make teacher’s feedback serve teacher-students interaction better and help students master language skills and acquisition better at the same time.
