The Research On The Application Of Peer Instruction In Physics Teaching For Grade One At Senior High School

Nowadays, middle school education is experiencing the first curriculum reform since the21st century in our country. It is urgent to employ new teaching methods to keep up with this reform. Peer Instruction was introduced and kept using in the class of college physics by professor Mazur from Harvard University since1990s. It has been proved effective in improving students’ability of understanding physics concept and solving problems in physics during20years researches by Mazur and other researchers.This thesis will study the use of peer instruction in the physics classroom of first year of senior high school. Analysis in this thesis is carried out from theoretical and practical aspects. In the aspect of theory, this thesis presents the study about Peer Instruction at domestic and abroad, combing the new teaching ideal and analyzes Physics Curriculum Standards for Senior High School (Experimental Manuscript) and the textbook of Physics for grade one. Based on that, a new teaching method is put forward that led by teaching guide, peer instruction will be carried out during teaching process in class. In terms of practice, Peer Instruction is conducted in physics class at grade one of Central China Normal University Affiliated Longgang School and the effectiveness of this teaching method is examined in classes for introduce physics concepts, physics laws, and classes for revision. After that, questionnaires are collected to survey the attitudes of students about peer instruction and interviews with teachers about it are carried out. Finally, results are analyzed, main factors which influence the effect of peer instruction on physics learning of the first-year school students of high school are summarized, and the feasibility, and disadvantages of this method are analyzed; and some suggestions are put forward too.
