Teachers’ professional ability is the precondition of teachers engaged in teaching and the basic requirements, is the teachers’ professional features. To improve teachers’ professional ability is of great significance to promote teachers’ specialization, improving the efficiency of the education teaching and the quality of education.In2011, the ministry of education issued "middle school teachers’ professional standard (trial)"(hereinafter referred to as the "standard"), and put forward "the student as this, virtue first, ability, life-long learning" the basic concept, respectively, for middle school teachers’ professional philosophy and ethics, professional knowledge and professional ability to article60specific requirements are put forward."Professional standard" to "ability" as one of the basic concept of teacher professional development, and professional ability in class teaching design, teaching implementation, management and education activities, education, communication and cooperation, reflecting on teaching evaluation and development of six areas, such as the pointed out the direction for the development of teachers’ professional ability.This research using literature method, questionnaire investigation, case analysis and classroom observation, etc. summarizing the history and current situation of teachers’ ability development at home and abroad and unscrambling the basic structure and function of "professional standard";"Based on" professional standard of the basic requirements of teachers’ professional ability, combining with geography teaching discipline characteristic, probes into the practice of geography teachers’ professional ability, trying to build the geography teachers’ professional capabilities and standards system; In geography, the new teachers as the study case, by collecting from a line of the new geography teachers, teaching experience in1-3years of teaching design and the questionnaire, understand the current new geography teachers in teaching design ability, teaching ability, teaching assessment ability, geographical education activities, and professional growth ability six dimensions of the current situation of the development of professional ability.This study has been clear about the new geography situation and existing problems of teachers’ professional ability through the investigation and analysis, and as a starting point, briefly puts forward the new way of promoting teachers’ professional capacity. This study argues that the teaching design is a basic approach to improve teachers’ professional ability. Should strengthen the geography teaching design of the theoretical study and practical exploration, including in-depth study of geography teaching design theory basis and basic methods. To strengthen the geography teaching design practice, raises the geography teaching design consciousness again. Geography teaching should be the combination of theory and practice of design, pre-service and after unifies;Participate in the teaching practice is the key of pre-service teachers’ professional ability formation. Should be overall design teacher’s professional ability development model, provide development platform and resources to support. At the same time, the innovation of geography teaching course system, training expert geography teachers; To carry out the geography classroom teaching behavior research is an effective way to teachers’ professional ability development. Deepen the new curriculum of geography classroom teaching behavior specification, high efficiency and value exploration, actively carry out the geography effective teaching research, support the development of the teachers’ professional ability training mode and resource platform.
