Study On Functions Of Moral Education In College Students Associations

The18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stresses "take fostering integrity and promoting rounded development of people as the fundamental task of education, and train participants of and successors to the socialist cause who develop morally, intellectually, physically and aesthetically.""fostering integrity and promoting rounded development of people" was first established in the fundamental task for China’s education and brought new opportunities and challenges to the moral education in universities. Currently, moral education faces serious challenges of cultural diversities, values diversities, etc. How to innovate and optimize the methods, means and ways of moral education is our research project in the new era.As an important medium of moral education in universities, student associations function as implicit moral education. In terms of the theoretical significance, research of moral function is good for making up for the inadequacy of college students’moral education in theory and improving and enriching the students to study theoretical system; In terms of the practical significance, research of moral function is good for enhancing its attractions and cohesions and improving the effectiveness and pertinence of moral education in universities.From the perspective of the moral education, the study focuses on how to enhance the effectiveness of moral education of student association in universities and discusses the effective ways to promoting the functions of moral education. Firstly, the paper explores the three developmental waves of student association and analyzes its importance of development and basic types. Secondly, the paper explains the content, features and five functions of moral education. Thirdly, by adopting the objective data from empirical studies done in many universities to summarize the universal realities of community college students, analyze reasons of limited functions of moral education in current student associations, and further systematically discussing how the moral education functions in college student associations in the new period facing new changes and new development. Finally, driven by the Marxist theory about people’s free all-round development and the educational theory of "moral education" and "people oriented", this paper proposes ways to promote the moral function of community among college students.
