Great Didactic of Comenius written by G A Comenius, a famous educatorin Czech,was published in1632, marking the onset of Happy Teaching Method.In the thesis, Happy Teaching Method was applied in the empirical study of thejunior high school English classroom. The fundamental purpose of the researchwas to combine Happy Teaching Method with teaching practice to explore thespecific strategies used in junior high school English classes. Moreover, theresearch of improving the students’ learning means and the approach of integratingHappy Teaching Method into English language teaching and learning scientificallywere studied.This thesis is based on a4-month-long empirical study. The subjects of thestudy were60junior students from No.12Middle School in Changsha City, whowere randomly divided into two groups---experimental class and control class.The teaching method adopted in the experimental class was Happy TeachingMethod, while the traditional teaching method was applied in the control class.The data collected from the study were listed systematically,generalized,compared and analyzed. In the end, the answers to the two researchquestions were found to have connected with the empirical study of implementingHappy Teaching Method in junior high school English classes. Furthermore, theexperience and deficiency of the research were summarized and the futureresearch were presented.The data collected from the research indicate:(1) Applying the teachingstrategies of Happy Teaching Method in English classes played a significant rolein promoting students’ interests in learning, changing their attitudes andstimulating their motivations, which was found by comparing the results of theinterviews before and after the experiment in the experimental class.(2) HappyTeaching Method was much better than conventional teaching method inimproving students’ learning outcomes in junior high school English classes,which was discovered by comparing and analyzing the results of the pre-test andthe post-test conducted in the experimental class and the control class during theexperiment.(3) Happy Teaching Method could stimulate the motivations of thestudents at various levels greatly, arousing their interests and promoting autonomous learning, as well, especially the poor learners.The results of the experiment indicate that Happy Teaching Method canimprove not only students’ learning strategies, enhance their learning abilitiesbut also play an active role in changing the ways of evaluation, which has alsotransformed the traditional teaching model and made the combination of HappyTeaching Method with the English teaching come true.
