The Effect Of Communicative Strategies Training On Junior High School Learners’ Oral English Proficiency

Communicative strategies refer to the skills that learners use when facing some problems in the process of communication. Interlocutors can keep their conversation continued by these strategies, and then achieve the communication goal. Communicative strategies were proposed by Selinker in1972. The foundation of communicative strategies is to develop students" interest of English learning. With the guidance of communicative strategies, teachers can adopt reasonable strategies and take effective measures to enhance students’communicative competence.As we all know, oral English is a difficult and important part for language learning on a long term basis, so this thesis suggests practical strategies to help students treat the communicative difficulties from the perspective of communicative strategy and inspiring students’enthusiasm to English study.This thesis is divided into four chapters to discuss relative problems. The first chapter is about the concept of communicative strategies and communicative competence, and some relative studies at home and abroad. The second chapter is about the significance, feasibility and necessity of communicative strategies training in junior high school. In the third chapter, the author first mentions current situation of oral English teaching, then does an experiment in a junior high school. This experiment emphasizes the effect of application of communicative strategies training in oral English teaching. According to the experimental results, the writer draws a conclusion that the oral English level of the experimental group has been improved. The fourth chapter is about the implications and limitations of this study. In the section of conclusion, the writer confirms the accomplishments of communicative strategies training to junior high school learners.
