As the two leaders of the People’s Republic of China, Mao Tse-tung and Deng Xiaoping have made great contribution to creating and contributing China. They are not only proletarian revolutionist, Marxists, but also they have a lot of original ideas in education. Mao Tse-Tung Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory both contain very rich education thought. Their education thought are the result of combining Marxism-Leninism with the Chinese education practice and they have great impetus to Chinese education development. The17th big report of the Chinese Communist Party also pointed that we must give priority to developing the education, build a big country of having excellent human resources powers and try to promote educational fairness. Studying the education thoughts of Mao Tse-tung and Deng Xiaoping must put them into the whole China’s social change and a broader economy and culture development history background, thus we can understand their scientific system and spiritual substance. The purpose is that we can take some helpful ideologies to develop Chinese modern education. So studying them has important theoretical and realistic significance.The paper will trace from the education thought of the classic Marxist writers, then discuss the producing sources and main contents of Mao Tse-tung and Deng Xiaoping’s education thoughts, and then compare Mao Tse-tung’s education with Deng Xiaoping’s education thought in order to find some similarities and differences, to spread the experience and to reflect the lesson. Eventually, we can find some beneficial ideas to modern education reform, and then can develop our education career better and faster.The specific aspects of the paper are as follows:The Introduction of the paper mainly summarizes the background and the value of the research about the selected topic, and the present situation of the research,, the research methods, innovative points and the shortcomings and Marxist classics education thought about the paper.The first part of the paper mainly summarizes Mao Tse-Tung’s education thought, including its source and its main contents.The second part of the paper mainly summarizes Deng Xiaoping’s education thought, including its source and its main contents.The third part of the paper mainly compares Mao Tse-Tung’s education thought with Deng Xiaoping’s education thought. I compare the two aspects respectively on the similarities and differences. Mao Tse-tung and Deng Xiaoping’s education thought are so broad and profound that it is difficult to involve all aspects. So I mainly discuss the similarities from the following five aspects:the education system, the political direction of education, the education method, the education reform and the basic education goal. Meanwhile, I mainly discuss the differences from the following three aspects:First, It is about the education and the center of gravity of the political and economic relations; Secondly, It is about the emphasis of the education method. Thirdly, It is about the specific cultivation standard for talents.The fourth part of the paper discusses Mao Tse-tung and Deng Xiaoping’s education thoughts having realistic enlightenments to Chinese contemporary education. It includes three aspects: inheriting experience, meeting challenges and the countermeasures. Inheriting experience includes giving priority to the development of the education, setting life-long education concept and promoting all-round development of human beings; Meeting challenge is from two aspects: the domestic and the foreign influences; Dealing with the countermeasures mainly include three aspects: Firstly, deepening and improving the education reform; Secondly, ensuring the government’s education funds; Thirdly, taking some effective measures to promote the education fair.
