Historical information processing plays an important part in exploring and studying of history. Focusing on cultivating the ability of historical information processing is conducive to give full play to the enthusiasm and participation of students, develop a practical and realistic attitude in exploring historical issues, raise the awareness of innovation and practical ability. It is an inevitable requirement for developing historical thinking skills, also the only way to highlight the nature of history teaching. According to the theoretical study of the history and historical pedagogy, this paper made an in-depth and comprehensive discussion on how to develop the students’historical thinking and innovative ability and how to achieve the goal of history education in the process of information processing. The proface part explains the topic’s origin, significance, theoretical basis and research methods. In this part, it also gives a systematic analysis of the domestic and foreign study of the historical information processing, and defines several similar concepts, such as historical material analysis, historical material reading, etc. This part aims to illustrate that the topic is in line with the philosophy and requirements of the new curriculum reform, and fully reflects the intrinsic value of history teaching. The first part is about historical information extraction, which is a process to transform the historical materials to historical information. It requires the ability to fully extract historical information through reading, observation and other methods. Both the teachers and the students must be good at discovering the obvious information and the hidden information, focusing on the main information and the secondary information, also they need to pay attention to the difference of the ways to extract information from written materials and non-written materials. The second part is about historical information identification, which is to identify the authenticity and credibility of the historical information, it is a difficult part in high school history teaching. In order to cultivate the students’ awareness of historical evidence and improve their historical literacy, teachers need to guide students to gradually master the method to identify the different value of historical materials, such as how to find out the provenance and the credibility of the information content and the recorders’ credit. The third part is about historical information collation, which is to change the information from dispersed, individual, partial, non-system to logical, hierarchical, systemic, structural by analyzing, synthesizing, comparing and summarizing the information. From this process,we can reveal the track of history development, demonstrate the essence and law of the historical phenomenon. It is a high-level thinking activities that requires a certain ability of understanding, judging, comparing, and analyzing. The fragments of two history teaching cases described in the fourth section were used to demonstrate the previous theoretical research from the view of practice. It points out that to enhance the historical information processing capacity, we need to increase the reserves of historical knowledge, enhance the awareness of historical information, coupled with the right approach and long-term exercise. The epilogue consists of two parts. On the one hand, it makes a systematic summary of the full text, points out that the four aspects of the historical information processing are closely linked and indispensable, they make up a training process of historical thinking. On the other hand, this part make a supplement of the details, and pointed out some inadequacies as well as further research space of this study.
