Who is the teacher? What is the position of teacher’s social role? It seems that it isunnecessary to explore this problem, contemporary society is generally believed that teachers arethe moral models, symbols of knowledge and teaching experts. However, in each specifichistorical period, whether it is from the harmonious development of society, or from theperspective of the healthy development of teachers and students, it is necessary for us to ask:Whether teachers can satisfy social wish? if not, what should the society position teachers.Exploring these issues will help to clarify the understanding of teachers, and thus produce areasonable role expectation to the teachers; Thinking about these issues will also help teachersmore rationally understand and evaluate themselves, which actively engaged in their owncareers.Throughout the study is divided into five parts. Part I mainly describes the topic choosingreason, meaning, ideas and methods of this research, defines the concept of correlation, and alsoreviews the study of the social role of teachers at home and abroad in order to successfully carryout our research foundation; Part II starting from the basic concept of the role, the authordiscriminates the connotation of social role and analyzes the essential characteristics of the roleof teachers in detail to provide a solid theoretical support; Part III explains three basicpositioning of "teachers","scribes" and "talented teachers." In the meantime, the author analyzesthe basic orientation of the teacher’s role implied demonstration, perfection and tools sexualorientation from the perspective of the teaching profession, Chinese traditional culture andWestern scientism; Part IV from a practical point of view, the author perspectives the problemsof the basic orientation of teachers’ social role, and makes a systematical analysis throughcontacting teachers’ real life and social realities; Part V makes a breakthrough in passive toolpositioning, breaks teachers’ without borders requirement and gives teachers an active,spontaneous, positive positioning: Teacher is positioned as a person with conscience, thinkingand personality.
