Under The Background Of Kunming City Migration: Status, Problems And Solutions

Under the background of urbanization, the scale of population transfer enlarges and its scope broadens. As a result, urban dramatically increases as rural population reduces. Population transfer has become demographical factor for urbanization. The development of urban industry and service industry has produced a great amount of needs for labor resources, which has become a pushing force for population immigration. Besides, industrialization and development of service industry have provided advanced technology, equipments and service methods for agricultural production. Therefore, agricultural labor productivity has increased and a great amount of surplus labor resources has been pushed to cities, which becomes a pushing force for the rural population’s migration to urban areas. The difference between workers and farmers as well as the difference between urban and rural areas has formed a resultant force which decides the basic flow direction of population transfer from rural areas to urban areas.Observing the urbanization process in China, the resultant force was not only resulted from natural economy. Maybe powerful administrative interference also played a more important role. The urban and rural population distribution change in the past60years, increase of urban population in the past30years and multi-option for urbanization all reflect administrative interference impact on population transfer.In2011, the urbanization rate of Kunming City reached66%. The6th National Population Census released that the number of immigration population in Kunming was1.2million in urban permanent population, taking up about18.66%of the city’s permanent population.80%of immigration population resided in four districts in main urban area of Kunming City which has become a population net immigration city and the flow direction is relatively concentrated.Starting from the connectivity of urbanization and population transfer, this dissertation researches the current situation and problems of population transfer in Kunming City under the background of urbanization. On the basis of collecting and analyzing relevant research results from home and abroad, this dissertation applies basic theory of urbanization and common principles of population transfer to observe the characteristics of population transfer in Kunming during the process of urbanization. Combining Kunming’s characteristics of high prime city index, huge number of immigration population, high population density in main urban area, rapid development of urbanization and big difference among areas, etc, and based on the statistics, the dissertation studies the problems and main factors of population transfer in Kunming City.Additionally, this dissertation puts forward relevant countermeasures addressing the main problems such as unbalance of population special distribution, appearance of binary structure, lack of population accommodation capacity, etc. The countermeasures focus on clearing the channel of population transfer, enhancing population accommodation capacity, improving population special distribution in order to increase the efficiency of population transfer in Kunming City.
