The Present Situation And Countermeasures Of The Retired Athletes’ Job Placement In China

Abstract:The issue of retired athletes’ job placement has always been the focus of public concern and is an unnegligible problem during the developing course of China’s athletic sports. And with the constant expansion of China’s athletic sports, this problem is becoming even more prominent. Most retired athletes are confronted with the increasing difficulty of getting a job, which can exert an influence on the social development. The retired athletes’ job placement, with its undoubted significance, not only directly affects the athletes’ individual future, but also concerns the stability and development of sports teams, which can further exert an influence on the development and prosperity of the state’s athletic sports. If not properly settled, it is likely to be a bottleneck of China’s athletic sports. Therefore, much attention should be paid to the retired athletes’job placement and correlative policies should be adopted by the government to solve this problem, which can not only contribute to attracting more potential athletes, but also help repay the veteran athletes who have dedicated themselves in developing the athletic sports in China.Drawing on the unemployment and social security theory and the government procurement service theory, this study probes into the present situation and countermeasures of the retired athletes’ job placement in China and makes a comprehensive analysis on the problems emerging in the retired athletes’ job placement. The research methods of this study include theoretical and empirical analysis, literature consultation, questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics method. Based on the questionnaire survey on job placement of the retired coaches and athletes from several provinces in China, this study attempts to sort out the main existing problems of the retired athletes’ job placement in China, to analyze the corresponding reasons and to put forward proper countermeasures to settle these problems, thus further deepening this study’s insight into the present situation and advisable countermeasures of the retired athletes’job placement in China.
