A Study On The Quality Of Life Of Adults With Intellectual Disability In Dalian Area

With the win support among the people and the concept of people-oriented concept of fusion, Adult with intellectual disabilities in social or community life is represent the general trend, is an important factor to improve the quality of life. In order to understand the living conditions of the intellectual disabilities, the study survey in Dalian’s intellectual disabilities’ group, to understand their living conditions and social support. Interviews and focus the education service person and family members of the intellectual disabilities are taken.In this study, using quality of life questionnaire in2001, by American scholar Sherlock, author adaptation because of considering the characteristics of Chinese adult with intellectual disabilities understanding, made the questions simplified, and then the community staff assisted the investigation. This study selected Dalian area to investigate500children aged adult with between18to25years old, And individual interviews with their parents and community workersAfter investigation and analysis, we found the following points. First, intellectual disabilities there is the phenomenon of lower life satisfaction. Good health is the focus of intellectual disabilities factors. Social supports for adults with intellectual disabilities are of significant impact. Adults with intellectual disabilities are accompanied with communication barriers and difficulties of integration to society and the reason is that most of them fear social interaction. The employment of adults with intellectual disabilities is also an important issue.
