The new curriculum reform put forward some new requirements ofgeography education, one of which is to cultivate students’ Geographyliteracy, and map literacy is the most important content of geographicliteracy, the connotation of map literacy refers to:"map skills form theindividual and make good use of the map to solve practical problems inproduction, life, learning consciousness and the ability to." The presentresearch for small map literacy of high school students, and through thesurvey found that high school students map literacy is poor, so to brook nodelay strategies for the training of map literacy of high school students.Because the education decision makers do not attach importance to mapeducation, led to the school on the importance of map literacy training isnot enough, did not form a strong culture of map literacy atmosphere in thesociety; and because the research of map literacy is not sufficient, so themap literacy knowledge is less, so this leads to the geography teachers themap literacy is not enough, the lack of theoretical guidance in the teachingprocess, of course, the teaching effect is not just as one wishes; plus themajority of high school students on the map is not interested, but the lackof practical application of map knowledge opportunity, so most of the highschool students have not formed the basic map skills, lack of using map tosolve real life ability and consciousness, that is to say the current highschool students lack of map literacy.In order to provide theoretical support and practical basis for training highschool students map literacy, and constantly improve the high schoolgeography education and teaching quality, speed up the cultivation ofcomprehensive quality of senior high school students, the author puts forwardthe cultivation of map literacy of high school students strategy: first,through empirical investigation to education decision importance to mapliteracy, as well as the contemporary high school students map literacy lackof in-depth study, to organize the majority of geologists, educators,teachers, the connotation of map literacy and evaluation system, and the conclusion is presented in "the geography curriculum standards", providesthe theory basis for the teachers; second, publicity map literacy throughlectures, reports and the significance, the school, society and realize theimportance of map literacy, so as to provide a good social atmosphere forthe training of students’ map literacy; third, through the development ofteaching resources, improve teaching methods to improve students’ learningmap interest, and increase the practice course, let the students learn inorder to practise, experience map in real life use; fourth, through the newmap literacy in university courses, professional education of normaluniversity students, through the In-service teacher education organizationsat all levels to map literacy to continue in education, so as to promote theprofessional development of geography teachers, so as to improve the mapliteracy training effectiveness.
