| China and South Korea are close neighbors separated only by a strip of water, they have close trade and cultural exchanges since ancient times. In the21century, the time of rapid development of economic and social world of the information age, English as an applicable tool language has been paid more attention by all of the world, as developed countries in Asia, it is obvious that China and South Korea have paid much more attention on English, especially both countries are committed to improving the quality of primary English education. Therefore, the comparison of China and South Korea Primary English curriculum standards has a strong practical significance on improving China’s standards of English courses. The Primary English curriculum standards in China and South Korea are selected as the object of this study, on the base of introducing the educational background of the two countries, the author makes comparison from the aspects of frame structure, course objectives, course content and curriculum implementation.The research results show that the primary school English curriculum standards of China and South Korea are reflected in the trend of the development of English courses worldwide, there is common ground, the specific performance:Curriculum standards are prepared in a similar background; The content of the curriculum standards are comprehensive; Curriculum standards have a complete target system; The English course covers the core knowledge of English subjects; The standards has give some comprehensive science teaching suggestions for the national conditions; It has built a comprehensive course evaluation system. But based on different national conditions, there are some different points of the English curriculum standards in the two countries, such as the different structures of the curriculum standards framework; contents arrangements and different emphases; different evaluations. In addition, Korea’s English curriculum standards also present its inherent progressiveness:detailed guidance of teaching methods and comprehensive curriculum evaluation.Therefore, this study curtains the Chinese primary school English curriculum standards and also gives some referent suggestions about improving Chinese primary school English curriculum standards even further improving the Primary English Teaching, mainly include: Development of standards should consider the validity of the school curriculum; Enhancing the development and utilization of curriculum resources; Focusing on students’ability of language practice and proficiency; Improving big-classroom teaching and raising more achievements about teaching. |
