Since the beginning of the21st century, the development of bio-science and bio-technology is rapid, and they have been widely used in the social production, and even have penetrated into all aspects of the daily life of the citizens. Therefore, it has become an urgent task for almost every country and regions to promote citizens’ biological science literacy. STS education (Science, Technology and Society Education) is a very forceful measure to solve this problem. STS education integrates science, technology and society relationship into education, where the teaching and learning of science and technology are based on students’ life experience. When Students study science and technology, they could re-examine the science and technology in terms of emotions, attitudes, and values. The ultimate goal of STS education is that the biological science literacy of students can be generally improved, and they can be involved in technological decision making in the future life.By the method of documentary analysis, statistical method and comparative analysis this study Compares the STS education theme, presentations and special columns in high school biology textbook between the US and China. The aim is to identify the lack of STS education in Chinese textbooks in order to better enhance our students bioscience literacy.As can be seen from this study, American textbook is more comprehensive in STS education theme, presentations and special columns. American textbook is so particular about laboratory safety that a complete security education system is included in it. Our biology textbook also makes a positive effort in laboratory safety, but there are still a lot of problems in comparison, especially in experimental safety. Textbook rarely involves experimental safety text, not to mention the security education system. According to these deficiencies, our country should strengthen the STS Education Research and Practice from the following aspects:textbooks, teachers and teaching process.
