Recently, Graduate enrollment have been expanding, especially after the reformof the scholarship system and the recruitment for full-time professional master’s degree.Graduate students have groups more diverse sources. These factors have brought newchallenge to the students’ ideological and political education. In the process of strivingfor service-oriented, research universities, there is a focus on research study meanwhileunderrating the education of ideological and political. The evaluation criteria of collegeinstructor have also put research in the first place. Tutor is the most intimate person in agraduate’s study and life, who also has an irreplaceable advantage on the ideologicaland political education. However, in the actual work of research and teaching, mentorhave heavy tasks, overloaded number of students, which result in the neglect ofideological and political education of graduate students. What’s worse there lacks aclear cut of responsibility between college graduate instructors and counselors forideological and political education. Thus, the effect of the graduates’ ideological andpolitical education is not obvious.The thesis first makes comprehensive literature retrieval, domestic and foreign, ofthe mentor role on graduate students’ thinking through political education, whichsummary of the teacher in the graduate research results in the role of ideological andpolitical education. Secondly, through analyzing actual research data, the currentsituation of mentor role can be seen. After a careful analysis of the existing problems,we conclude that the role of mentor to deal with the ideological and political educationshould come into full play. What’s more, the article put forward practical measures forimprovement, providing reference for the reform of ideological and political educationof graduates. We hope that the education administrative department pay more attentionto ideological and political education of graduate students and call for the establishmentof the education mode in which mentor act as the leader. As a result, the schoolpersonnel training service can achieve its social functions, delivering more highlyqualified personnel for the country’s economic development. In order to give a full play to the role of mentor in graduate students’ ideologicaland political education, we must attach importance the ideological and politicaleducation and improve the overall quality of the mentors’ team, further standardizingthe management system as the main responsibility. Based on the current situation ofmentor role in the analysis of the ideological and political education, the subjectproposed four measures to cope with. First, to establish and improve the liability systemof graduate mentor in the ideological and political education, letting the mentor to playthe main role. The second is to improve the overall quality of the tutor team ofinstructors qualified to carry out the selection and job evaluation. The third one is theimplementation of mentor funding system to create a "guidance" harmoniousrelationship. The fourth is to strengthen the moral cultivation of the mentor,strengthening the ideals and beliefs,giving full play to the role of academic integritywhich guidelines morality.
