Analysis of geography textbook can generally be divided into two aspects: theoverall analysis and local analysis, there are based on the general model about theanalysis of textbook for Geography textbook analysis. They are both independent ofeach other and influence each other. The overall analysis is a precondition and basisfor local analysis, but in turn the local analysis is the refinement and enhancement tothe overall analysis. In September2011, Chinese various provinces had all entered thestage of the new high school curriculum, and a new version of high school geographytextbook is written In accordance with the "Basic Education Curriculum ReformProgram (Trial)" and "Ordinary High School Geography Curriculum Standards(experimental)" which is used extensively in every provinces of China. Teachers mustbe have new awareness at first and study effectively also do textbook analysis whenthey face the new book, only this can service for the teaching be better, and especiallyfor teachers with new recruits seem particularly evident.However, nowadays most ofthe geography teachers haven’t paid much attention to the awareness of the geographybook, some teachers even haven’t “curriculum standards”, not to mention the in-depthanalysis of textbook. So the textbook analysis is one of the effective ways to promotethe specialization of teachers and the development of China’s education. This passageuse the method of literature and interview to do the analysis study, and it combineswith the general methods of the textbook analysis to take the "Atmosphere on theEarth" in high school geography1published by PEP as an example, also put forwardrelevant teaching suggestions.The paper consists of five parts. Part1is the background of the research, includingproblem presentation, purpose and significance of the research, research method andsome relevant concepts. Part2is the theoretical basis, it combines the relevant theoriesof education and psychology to make the basis for the passage, and these theories areAusubel’s cognitive assimilation theory, teaching theory of Behaviorism andoptimization of teaching theory. Part3is a textbook analysis of the chapter--“Atmosphere on the Earth”and this part is the core content, it contains overall analysis and local analysis. Separately from the background analysis, textbooksexternal linkages analysis and the analysis of internal structure to do the overallanalysis; there are seven parts in local analysis, including analysis of the effect in thischapter, curriculum requirements and interpretation, textbook structural analysis, targetcomposition analysis of the textbook "three-dimensional", the analysis of theimportant and difficult tips, analysis of the structure on textbooks representation andsection-by-section analysis, at the same time the author did refinement and deepenanalysis in the section-by-section analysis process from curriculum requirements andinterpretation, analysis of teaching objectives and the analysis of the important anddifficult tips and so on. Part4is the teaching suggestion for sections of the“Atmosphere on the Earth”, through notebook analysis and combing with theinterviews to determine this chapter teaching suggestions which are elaborated Mainlyfrom three aspects: hours arrangements, the teaching suggestions and Learningmethods suggestions, teaching and Learning methods recommendations they includehow to explain important and difficult tips, also how to learn it better.Part5comes toa natural conclusion.
