Listenning and speaking skills, as a very important aspect of teaching skills inthe second language teaching, recently have got a lot of concern and attention frommany reseachers and teachers. However, the study on the cultivation of listening andteaching skills are mainly concentrated in the aspect of teaching skills, rarelyinvolving studies from the learner’s perspective. Based on my internship in SurabayaIndonesia New Chinese Cram Middle school and according to my observation, Ifound that the students there don’t like talk very much in the chinese class and it is acommon exsitence there. In order to solve the problem, I made a survey about thereason of it by the method of questionnaire, interview and classroom observation of40students in primary and middle level. Afer my systematic analysis of theinformation collecting from my survey, I make the following basic conclusions: thestudents’s talking willingness on the class are influenced by not only the learner’sown emotions and personalities, but also by the teachers’ personal accomplishment, personality charm, class behaviors, and environmental factors, etc.Based on thesereasons, finally I put forward some recommendations on increasing students’willingness to speak from the teachers’ perspective. Teachers should help learners toovercome emotional disorders, encourage the class communication and pay attentionto class activity settings and so on. Adopting these advice, I hope it will work toincrease the students’ speaking willingness so that we can improve the students’ oralcommunication abilities and at the same time can provide some practical advice forIndonesian students on their chinese learning.
