Mr. Li Shicen is active philosopher and educator in China at the beginning of the20thcentury. His thoughts of educational philosophy are rich in content and a fusionof Chinese and western. He has very distinct times features by injected the westerneducation thoughts into Chinese. His thoughts of educational philosophy is brilliantdue to his profound theoretical basis and rich teaching experience and has a uniquesignificance in the history of Chinese philosophy of education. This paper starts frombackground of Li Shicen, times and theory, analyses the definition and content of hiseducational philosophy and triggers the inspiration to modern education.Li Shicen’s philosophy of education is closely around the “performance”. Hebelieves that the essence of education is a process of performance, the purpose ofeducation is the “reality”. Education is strive to show the features of the originalwithout any external force. The content of his educational philosophy is extremelywide, divided into personality education, social education, art education, ethicseducation, aesthetic education in five parts. From personal ontology to social ontology,from the artistic taste of ethics and covers aesthetic education of morality, intelligenceand physique, Li Shicen answered how to “performance”.His philosophy of education has always stressed the importance of “people”. Thepeople-oriented education ideology brings profound thoughts to the contemporaryeducation reform, gives a certain reference value and significance.
