Since human history enter the twenty century, with the rapid development of theworld economy and science and technology is changing with each passing day, Globalenvironmental problems become more and more outstanding. These environmentalproblems include the depletion of the ozone layer, the greenhouse effect, acid rain,species extinction, destruction of biodiversity, desertification, soil erosion, massivedeforestation caused by forest and tropical rainforest area to reduce marine pollution,waste disposal, the risk of nuclear pollution and so on.Environmental history hasattracted more and more concern as emerging fields of historical circle, the researchon environmental historiography have made significant progress in recent years. Butin most part of China, history educators did not applied research results ofenvironmental history in our high school history teaching, which existing deep-rootedtraditional concept. They maintain that the so-called classroom instruction simplymeans delivering book knowledge and thus the success and failure of teaching lies onthe teacher’s teaching methods and students’ personal ability. However, the instillationand cultivation of historical theories on students are often ignored, which has confinedthe present history class instruction to the situation of merely "teaching the teachingmaterials". The problem has been ubiquitous in middle school history teaching inChina ever since the new curriculum reform. Proceeding from the exploration ofenvironmental history, the author expects to analyze the rationality and necessity ofthe application of environmental history conception in the present history teaching inChina, and seek out the suitable teaching methods in concrete operation links. It ishoped that this thesis can provide constructive opinions and feasible guiding theoriesfor middle school history teachers on the cultivation of historical theory.
