The characteristics of mathematics determine that the mathematical learning is not justthe learning of the content and understanding is more important.Only the students trulyunderstand, they can have a more thorough understanding and thinking in many ways such asmathematics concept, procedural skills, problem solving, method of thinking, knowledgesystem, mathematics habits etc. Then their understandings can be lfexibly applied to the newsituation outside of books. Understanding becomes the inevitable pursuit of Mathematicslearning. The current mathematics teaching still exist many problems which relfected theemphasis on memory and the neglect of understanding in the process of cultivating talents.And the new curriculum proposed reflects the important value of understanding inmathematics teaching. If the teacher still uphold the original teaching philosophy and teachingmethods to carry on the teaching, not only can not thoroughly implement the main content ofthe text books,but also bound the students’ innovation ability formation. Developing theexperimental study of junior middle school mathematics teaching for understanding is avaluable study topic.The experimental teaching is built based on understanding instructional designframework of Professor Chen Mingxuan, combined with the discipline characteristic of thejunior middle school mathematics and the junior middle school students’ learningcharacteristics, established the junior middle school mathematics comprehension teachingdesign patterns of’ comprehensive objectives-derivative problems-comprehension activities-comprehension performance-comprehension evaluation-network environment". In theevaluation process of mathematical understanding, combined with migration theory andWiggins six dimensions concept, established ifve dimensions and its evaluation standard ofthe junior middle school mathematics understanding that includes the interpretation,translation, application, insight, migration, and designed the classroom observation tools andunderstanding level evaluation scoring table.In order to veriyf the feasibility of the junior middle school mathematics comprehensionteaching practice mode, Summarize the teaching and learning strategy "to understand andteach" in the junior middle school mathematics teaching. Select the Grade one Class three in amiddle school in Wuxi city as the experimental class, and select Class four as comparativeclass to carry out the experimental study. The experimental study uses the experimentalmethod that single factor has two levels in equal groups, and also combines the qualitativeresearch with the quantitative research. Before and after the research we carried out themultiple comparisons between the classes. Satisfy the science and rationality of theexperimental study. The experimental process experienced some steps of preparation,preliminary experiment, preliminary experimental reflection and teaching design revision,formal experiment and the analysis of experimental data.Through the analysis and discussion of the experimental results of three parts of thequestionnaire to understand orientation, understanding level test and classroom observation,we ifnd that the implementation of the junior middle school mathematics comprehension teaching experiment plays a signiifcant role in promoting the understanding of the students’will, the study way, the understanding level, and classroom performance. Teachers’ teachingphilosophy and instructional design method are changed. So that we can have theimprovement of teaching design ability, and improve the teaching effects well as teachingwisdom, to verify the effectiveness the junior high school math comprehension instructionaldesign.
