The implementation of new geography curriculum has put forward newrequirements on teachers. Teachers should continue to research teaching, improvequality, and stick to the professional development. Teaching reflection is animportant way for professional development of teacher, and teaching reflectionabilities are an important part of teachers’ professionalism. Improving teachers’teaching reflection abilities, optimizing teaching design, and enhancing teachingeffectiveness are important research topics to promote the professionaldevelopment of teachers.The thesis is divided into five parts. Based on the analysis and summary ofstudies at home and abroad, questionnaire and interview are used to investigate thestatus of teaching reflection abilities for geography teachers in Zhangjiagang highschools. Problems in reflection abilities of high school geography teachers are found,such as single reflection perspective;narrow and low-level reflection content;thelack of geographical flavor in reflection;the lack of reflection on geographicaleducation value. Reasons to cause these problems include the lack of teachers’education theory, weak teaching reflection abilities, the lack of sound reflectionatmosphere in school, and unreasonable evaluation system.The author puts forward a number of strategies to solve above problems:improve school management system, and create a reflection atmosphere;improveway of continuing education, and build a model that is conducive to the developmentof reflection abilities;implement collective preparation of instruction, and create areflective lesson preparation group;enhance education theoretical basis, andimprove educational quality;adhere to classroom observation;use microteachingto enhance reflection abilities;develop occupational habit of geography teachers.Based on the action research of the teaching and research group, it makes basicstrategies to improve teaching reflection abilities become operable. Finally, the thesisdiscusses and gives an outlook of existing problems in the study so as to providefurther studies with ideas.
