With the ongoing reform, the system of administrators’ performance appraisal isbeing perfected in colleges and universities, but as a part of the entire system, theassessment of personnel in teaching management departments is still lagging behind.In colleges and universities, teaching management personnel, who manage andintegrate the teaching program, provide guarantees for the operation of the teachingdepartments. Following the rapid expanding of the scales and the changing of theirsocial responsibilities, colleges and universities have to face problems on how toimprove the skills and qualities of teaching management personnel and how todevelop the performance appraisal system of them.The thesis reviews and analyzes the present system of performance managementand appraisal of teaching management personnel in colleges and universities.Combined relative researches with firsthand information obtained through approachessuch as interview and survey, the author, taking College S as an example, discussesand explores the construction of performance appraisal system of teachingmanagement personnel and designs a new performance appraisal system. The thesiscan be divided into5chapters. Chapter1introduces the basis, purpose andsignificance of the research. Chapter2, explains the theoretical basis, arguments andterminology. In Chapter3, the author analyzes the work efficiency and performanceof the teaching management personnel in College S and pointed out where theproblems are. In Chapter4, through the study of the aim, principles and rules of theperformance appraisal system, the author designs and refines the criteria ofperformance appraisal, which constructs the framework of the performance appraisalsystem of College S. In Chapter5, further analysis is given on the evaluation ofworking efficiency and performance and the application of supervision system. Thethesis could be used for reference in improving the performance appraisal system inhigher vocational colleges.
