The Overall Perception And Close Reading Of Text

Modem and contemporary prose plays a vital role in People’s Education Press version of textbooks forhigh schools, and there are also numourous famous works selected in the textbooks for students to read. Inthe teaching process, the modern and contemporary prose has caused enough attention of the teacher,students also attach great importance to reading and appreciating the modem and contemporary prose.There are many ways of reading prose, the overall perception and close reading of text are the two ofimportant reading methods, the students in the reading, however, do not guarantee completely correct useof these two methods. This paper used modem and contemporary prose in People’s Education Press versionof textbooks for high schools as a breakthrough point, making a research of the two methods as a whole.First of all, the author explored the development of the prose status according to the existing material,summarized characteristics of contemporary prose, classifying teaching materials of contemporary prose,and analyzed high school reading situation of modem and contemporary prose. Prose developed from YinShang Dynasty until today, after a long period, the development of modem and contemporary prose andachievement of that are outstanding. The prose in the teaching materials were mostly taken from somefamous works of modern and contemporary artists. Students also showed great interests in the works,which they liked to read.Secondly, according to the characteristics of the prose, the paper mainly discussed the overallperception and close reading of the two reading methods, and checked data, outlined the overall awarenessand text content, confirmed a clear definition of the concept of them. According to the characteristics of themodem and contemporary prose, the paper explored the important role that the two played in modem andcontemporary prose reading, and found problems caused by the inappropriate use of the two methods inreading. The overall perception and close reading of text played a very important role for students to formgood reading methods, as well as to improve the students’ reading ability.Finally, the paper also explored the necessity of the combination of the overall perception and closereading of text, as well as the combination strategy. The overall perception and close reading of text hadtheir own advantages, and they also needed to improvement and perfection. Just using one way to read couldn’t really read prose. When reading prose, students needed to skillfully combine both methods tounderstand the background of the author and works to grasp the tone of the article, seize the developmentclues to understand the article structure, taste the language works to understand art article, ponder thetechnique works to understand the article expressive effect.In addition, the paper used case analysis to the appendix part, and researched one modern andcontemporary essay in teaching materials according to the author’s theoretical research and teachingpractice.
