Three concepts have been initiated by basic education curriculum reform in China at the turn of thiscentury. Attention to development of students, emphasizing growth of teachers and the teachers shouldformulate teaching plans according to the level of students. This is an important measure which reflects therequirements of the times and promotes quality oriented education. However, comparing with thedevelopment of time and requirements of implementation of quality oriented education, the teaching ofhistory still has some problems to be solved in secondary schools. These are taking the single teachingresources, teaching style and teaching methods, students’ having less opportunity for self-exploration,cooperative inquiry, low learning enthusiasm, the rare democratic harmony and relaxed teachingatmosphere in classroom.Writer believes that the teaching of history should change the traditional, rigid, single mode,breakthrough the limitations of the teaching materials, classroom and disciplines, restore fresh vivid originalappearance of history classroom and achieve the openness of the teaching of history in new educationalsituation.This paper is based on the history teaching practice in high school, starting from some teaching cases,analyzing different instructional design from different aspects, exploring open teaching method whichbenefits building capacity of self-exploration of students on the background of new curriculum reforms topromote quality education. Writer believes that openness of history teaching includes resources,environment, reform and evaluation. Open teaching resources help to broaden horizons of students andimprove students’ ability of summarizing. It helps students to play main role and achieve the "indoctrination’’classroom transition to the" inquiry "classroom. It builds a democratic, harmonious, lively,active classroom atmosphere and form equality, mutual respect, friendly new teacher-student relationship.It also stimulates students’ enthusiasm, creativity, promote student learning, personality development andimprove teaching effectiveness.Writer explored open teaching of high school history and conducted experimental teaching in the classwhich author teaches. Author analyzed the problems encountered in the experimental teaching. This papertries to conduct detailed demonstration and elaboration on high school history open teaching from theoryto practice, from the abstract to the concrete, aims to explore the diverse forms and methods of high schoolhistory opening teaching, to change the traditional teaching mode of single, rigid, to promote the historyteaching reform and development of middle school.
