Objective To understand physical exercise effects on depression and anxiety status of college students. It can provide baseline data for students’psychological states and its intervening measures. Methods We use stratified-cluster sampling method to collect the data of714college students in Hefei, includes general demographic characteristics, physical exercise interest, time, frequency, intensity, self-evaluation of sports exercise effect, college students’depression and anxiety status. We also use PARS-3scale, EEI scale, SDS scale and SAS scale to analyze physical exercise effects on depression and anxiety research by unconditional logistic regression. Results The total of800questionnaires,714valid questionnaires were received, effective rate was89.25%. The male is292, accounting for40.9%, female422, accounting for59.1%; Survey of grade distribution:The Freshman are118(16.5%), sophomore158(22.1%), junior grade students317(44.4%), senior grade students121(16.9%); Sleep to be better are342(47.9%), general331(46.4%), poorer sleep41(5.7%); Single-child203(28.4%), children with siblings511(71.6%). In these714respondents, there are225people with depression symptoms, the detection rates of depression was31.6%, among which98people are males, females127, males and females’depression detection rates were33.7%,30.2%respectively. Depressive symptoms distribution between different gender has no significant difference; there are138people with anxiety symptoms, the detection rates was19.4%, Among them, the boy for70people, the anxiety detection rate was24.1%, the girl for68people and detection rate was16.2%, with significant difference of the two groups (χ2=6.878, P=0.009), boys’anxiety detection rate higher than girls’. Depression and anxiety symptoms distribution between different grades is different, Sophomore’s depressive symptoms detection rate is the highest, about40.5%, followed by freshman,38.1%, junior, senior were26.3%and27.5%separately; Sophomore’s anxiety symptoms detection rate is the highest too, about32.9%, freshman, junior, senior are11.9%,15.9%and18.2%respectively. Whether it is depression or anxiety symptoms, sophomore is the most obvious. t-test results showed that the SDS standard score of students do large amount of exercise (46.86±9.554) is less than the small ones (47.89±10.049) and the medium ones (48.06±10.021), and the differences have statistical significance; The SAS standard score of students do small amount of exercise (42.16±9.682) is less than the medium ones (43.12±10.785) and the large ones (43.45±1.042), and the differences have statistical significance. The correlation analyzed results showed that each dimension and the total score have negative correlation with SDS and SAS standard score except appearance dimension and the difference showed statistical significance. Unconditional Logistic regression showed that, grade, drinking or not, whether they are only child, sleep quality, evaluation of exercise effect is the influence factors of college students’ depression (P<0.05). The difference between physical exercise effect is not very satisfactory and very satisfied is statistical significance [OR (95%CI)=2.936(1.7514.925), P<0.01]; Physical exercise effect is not satisfactory and very satisfied has statistical significance difference [OR (95%CI)=1.873(1.0533.329), P=0.033]. For anxiety, smoking or not, sleep status, physical exercise interest, physical exercise frequency, physical exercise effect evaluation is the influence factors of college students’ anxiety (P<0.05). Difference between physical exercise effect is very not satisfactory and very satisfied is statistical significance[OR (95%CI)=0.338(0.1570.731), P=0.006]; Difference between physical exercise effect is not satisfactory and very satisfied is statistical significance[OR (95%CI)=0.475(0.2500.905), P=0.024].Conclusion Doing intensive physical exercise showed some alleviate action for depressed students and the same as low intensity physical exercise for anxious students. Promoting college students’ physical exercise effect has certain guiding significance for depression and anxiety state’s improvements.
