Knowledge Forum is the tool for Knowledge Building, which learning scaffoldings is one of its core functions. Scaffoldings is very important for students to conduct their knowledge building. What problems will students exposure when they conduct knowledge building in the Knowledge Forum? What scaffoldings are students needed? How to structure the scaffoldings in Knowledge Forum? Researchers and teachers need to resolve these questions. The applications of scaffoldings are different in china and other countries. And the history of scaffoldings application is so short.This study is conducted in Baiyunyuan elementary school in Nanjing. The students are grade three. The data in this study are mainly get from the students’ science classes, their notes in the Knowledge Forum. By analyzing the students’ learning trajectory in the Knowledge Forum, this study needs to find some changes and problems of students in knowledge building. And get some strategies when teachers set up scaffoldings in the Knowledge Forum.After the two stages of scaffoldings application, students know more about the knowledge building and the scaffoldings. Students pay more attention to their collaborative learning. And they can use scaffoldings more efficiently. However, there are still some problems when students use scaffoldings in the Knowledge Forum. Students may be blindness when they use scaffoldings because they don’t understand the meaning of the scaffoldings. And students may some of the scaffoldings most and then use these scaffoldings more frequently. Also students may imitate others easily when use the scaffoldings in the Knowledge Forum. Students’ cooperative consciousness is very weak when they conduct knowledge building, so students can’t use the cooperative scaffoldings efficiently. Students use the authoritative information inappropriately and they can’t raise above the information they get in the knowledge building process. What’s more, some students’ views may be ignored when students study in groups.Aiming at these problems and the cognitive characteristics of students, the design and use of the scaffoldings should help students to have clear purpose and direction. The scaffoldings may help students to communicate efficiently. The scaffoldings should help students to use the authoritative information correctly and raise above their new knowledge. And the scaffoldings should protect students’ opinions integrity and diversity. When setting up scaffoldings in the Knowledge Forum, teachers should have good plans and be flexibility. And teachers should combine the traditional scaffoldings and the scaffoldings in the Knowledge Forum.
