In the knowledge economy, the efficiency of undergraduate human capital formation requires enhancing to meet the social development and industrial structure upgrading demand for undergraduate human capital. To achieve the goal, formation of undergraduate human capital should be understand fully and thoroughly at first.The thesis analyses the formation of undergraduate human capital thoroughly. It contains inherent mechanisms, the exterior approaches and the social process of undergraduate human capital formation. The inherent mechanisms include how the knowledge and skills are internalized into the undergraduates human capital under the epistemology combining the undergraduate’s individual characteristics, how the capability generates and develops as the graduates explore their own talents, interests and abilities, and how the healthy lifestyle is internalized. The inherent mechanisms are recessive, but it is cumulative and decisive to shape the undergraduate human capital in the long term. The realistic approaches to formate the undergraduate human capital consist of specialty education, forms of specialty learning, social practice and training, career experience, interpersonal communication and physical exercise and so on. The formation of undergraduate human capital results from a complex series of social activities, which are divided into three social links:demand link, input link and production link. The social demand motives the formation of undergraduate human capital. After the investment and freshmen are sent into colleges and universities which are called the production institutions, the specialty knowledge is converted into human capital here. Among the social actors influencing the formation of undergraduate human capital, group actors are the outside force, while the undergraduate is the inner and decisive force.The thesis’ study on the undergraduate human capital formation is more comprehensive and profound than the existing literature. In order to improve the undergraduate human capital formation more efficiently, the inherent rules should be kept to. its realistic approaches should be optimized, and the join force of diverse social actors should be exploited efficiently. In a word, the formation of undergraduate human capital requires both the support of favorable external environment and the subjective efforts of the undergraduates on the basis of their scientific self-cognition.
