Cognitive style, which can also be called cognitive method or cognitive model. It isthe individual’s preference and habituation when he deals with the outside information.It is also the frequently used methods of perception, attention, memory when theindividual is stimulated by the outside information. Cognitive style is increased as theage goes by, it will not be changed with the content of learning as well as theenvironment of learning. Cognitive style obtained much stability and reasonablecognition. It is also meaningful in the educational fields. The intelligence andpersonality of human being are connected mutually. When we want to get familiar withsomeone, we should combine this two units.The teachers should fully consider the individual differences in English learning.We should adopt different methods when we faced with the individuals in order to raisethe motivation of the students. On the other hands, analyzing the personality of theindividuals is a good way to help them understand their own characters. It will also beimportant to cultivate their learning styles and improve the learning effects. If thestudents cognitive styles are in accordance with the teachers, it will be great help to thestudents. The students could learn forwardly and effectively.It will also form their ownlearning methods. This can promote their development of qualities. It is the integrantprinciple of teaching according with their own cognitive styles.As the development of the communicative methods of teaching, this paper aims todeal with the differences of individuals. Cognitive style is the most difficult element.The teachers should make no exception during their teaching. And it will be helpful tothe students as well as the whole class.
