Grimm brothers’ Grimm’s Fairy Tales are the most classic work in children’s literature allaround the world. Until now, the tales in the Grimm’s Fairy Tales have been translated into160languages, and this grant work has been treasure of the children’s literature of the world.The Grimm brothers looked the world from the view of children and sketched an imaginableand colorful fairy world. In the Grimm’s Fairy Tales, there is clear kindness and badness,beauty and ugliness, which can give little readers a clear and definite guide about their choice.Reading Grimm’s Fairy Tales, children can gain a peaceful and quiet mind and comprehendhuman’s moral wisdom. This essay mainly talks about educational functions of Grimm’s FairyTales towards children. The main part of the essay presents educational functions of classicGrimm’s Fairy Tales towards children. How can classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales enhancechildren’s cognitive development, stimulate children’s moral development and cultivatechildren’s love for literature.There are five parts in this essay. In the first part, it first uses Rousseau’s and Piaget’stheories on children’s cognitional development and clearly elaborates classic Grimm’s FairyTales can enhance the children’s cognitional development. Then there are brief introductionsto the Grimm brother and the Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Then the following is the main topic of theessay: the educational functions of classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales towards children. The secondpart is the first chapter of the essay. This part mainly elaborates the function of the classicGrimm’s Fairy Tales to children’s cognitive development. The children’s cognitivedevelopment is full of figurativeness and feelings, and classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales are full ofimaginations. So the tales can promote children’s cognitive development. The third part is thesecond chapter of the essay; the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales can enhance children’s moraldevelopment. In Grimm’s Fairy Tales, good and kind people will live a happy life in the endwhile the bad and evil ones will get punishment. All that can give guidance to children’s moraldevelopment. The fourth part of the essay is the third chapter. This chapter elaborates in termsof the beauty and interest of classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales and then explains how Grimm’s FairyTales cultivates children’s love for literature. Beautiful protagonists, interesting plots andimaginable language lead children to a wonderful fairy world. This accords with children’sreading psychology. Then children will find the magic power of literature and develop deeplove to literature. The fifth part is the conclusion of the essay. This part mainly summarizes the topic of theessay: educational functions of classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales towards children. These enhancechildren’s cognitive development, stimulating children’s moral development and cultivatingchildren’s love for literature.
