Though the new curriculum reform of art for high school has been implemented in Xinjiang for four years, art class teaching effect is still not ideal in current high schools because many art teachers lack consciousness of curriculum development, and can’t use textbooks flexibly. They just directly teach the content in the books at class. This kind of phenomenon is becoming more and more serious. So the author proposes to exploit actively Xinjiang local art resources in high schools, which can associate the teaching content with the local students’ life experiences. In addition, a variety of teaching methods should be positively explored during the course development, and we should give full play to the leading role of teachers’ and students’ awareness of autonomy, cooperation and exploration, which help to implement the new curriculum ideas and promote the curriculum adaptability, and improve the art classroom teaching effect and quality of the current Xinjiang high schools.Xinjiang, a vast land with rich resources and a long history, rich in natural and human resources, which can give full play to local resource advantages applied in the art teaching modules in high schools, such as teaching content, teaching form, teaching methods and teaching materials. In the teaching content, schools can combine Xinjiang abundant art resources with national curriculum content, and they can also extend the national curriculum content to exploit school-based curriculum with local characteristics; in the form of teaching, schools can combine the in-and-out school learning, as well as the combination of classroom and extracurricular self-study learning. Then, through teachers’ lectures, guidance and students’ extracurricular investigating, painting, photographing, collecting of information online and other forms to carry out the learning of art modules; in teaching materials and approaches, schools can give full play to the surrounding environment resource advantages for teaching, and transfer equipment disadvantages to resource advantages, so as to compensate inadequate hardware facilities caused by lack of economic conditions. For example, schools should arouse the students’ interest and solve the problem of lack of teaching means and equipment in "painting" and "craftwork design" modules. Therefore, the implementation of the new curriculum ideas can be carried out and art modules can be promoted in high schools.The thesis discusses the purpose, foundation and meaning of exploiting and utilizing Xinjiang local art resources in high schools, and puts forward that we should follow the law of education and aesthetic cognition, respect Xinjiang student’s life experiences and cognitive level, embody the principle of suiting measures to local conditions and teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, grasp the relationship between universality and particularity in the development of local art resources, and develop actively and steadily the suitable art teaching contents for the teaching practice in the art high schools in Xinjiang. With the main research methods of literature review and study of action research, I put forward the principles of analyzing art curriculum resources and screening in comb of natural and human resources. In the content, I sort out the local content for exploiting and utilizing according to the four art categories. In the use of lesson case study for local resources, this paper respectively exemplifies three teaching designs from three frequently-opened modules—"art appreciation","painting", and "craftwork", displaying the analysis and also joining the attempt of "comprehensive exploration" module. In the last chapter, combining with the high school art curriculum standard and pointing out some common problems in the development of teaching resources, the author puts forward related suggestions, offering certain guidance to the current art teaching module and resource development in Xinjiang high schools.
