Marx’s power thought occupies an important position in his political philosophy. It is generated with the generation of Marx’s proletarian doctrine. Foucault is called "power philosopher", his power thought is one of the main study objects. This thesis is about the comparison of Max and Foucault’s power thought by background, theoretical sources and philosophical basis. This thesis mainly uses literature research method, method of comparative study and cross-disciplines research methods. Marx uses continuous and rational conception of history to build his power thought. His power thought is macroscopical and reflects an attitude of criticize modernity.Foucault’s power thought is such a type of micro-power, it’s started with irrational, non-continuity conception of history; it not only has relations with the traditional conception of history but also differences; it aims to deconstruct rationalism, humanism and critique of modernity.Marx established power thought is aimed at the conditions of the initial stage of capitalism, while Foucault established power thought is aimed at conditions of developmental stage. Their power thoughts are both the products of their background. By comparison, this thesis, on the one hand, points out the similarities and differences between the two ideas; on the other hand, analysis the development and revision of Marx’s power thought by Foucault’s influence.
