The Research On The Left-behind Elderly’s Social Support

Since year1980s,with industrialization and urbanization of China,many adults from countryside flow into big cities, and lead to a large number of old people left behind. According to statistics of year2014of Ministry of Civil Affairs, population quantity of old people left behind is close to50Million, the phenomenon of population quantity old people left behind is very common in our country. Solving problems of old people left behind not only are beneficial to Left-behind elderly’s health and happiness, but also helpful to new countryside construction and social harmony and stability.We use the theory of social support to study the problems of old people left behind. Taking old people in Enshi Autonomous Preface of Hubei Province as the research object, the methods of case interview and literature consultation are used to collect data.15old people left behind in Enshi Autonomous Preface of Hubei Province are investigated with deep interview. Firstly, we analysis the situation of social support of old people left behind from economic support aspect,life care support and emotional support aspect. Secondly, find out the problems of old-age security system, medical insurance and land security in social support system:in economic support aspect, security system for the aged is not perfect, medical insurance is not well enough and security of land is weaken; In life care aspect, taking care of grandson and spouse aggravate the burden of daily life of old people left behind and it is difficult for the old people get enough social support; In emotional support aspect, many old people left behind suffer seriously discrimination and feel lonely.Lastly, measures should be taken to improve the social support system of old people left behind:in economic support aspect, raise pension fund for old people and give more support to person who take care of old people left behind; in life care support aspect, children should perform obligation of taking care of their old parents and government should try of taking caring mode; In emotion support aspect, strengthen cultural construction of filial piety, relatives and neighbors help each other and old people should strengthen the capability of self-support.
