CHI Li, known in the literature circle as the representative of neo-realism, sticksto writing with a creative mind of simplicity and plainness. With a relieved state ofmind, which goes through confrontation and then easy resolution, she forms adistinctive attitude towards literature of her own and writes from a distinctiveperspective of citizens. Such writings with citizens perspective showing the troublescitizens would meet in their daily life reflect their helplessness and convey to us theperceptions and insights towards life of people who lives at the bottom of the society.Literary works root in social life as we all know, but simple combination ofsocial practice, political views, writing skills and the writer feeling would not turninto literary works automatically. Only through such procedures as opening, communicating, precipitating, absorbing and filtering conducted by the writer can itbe formed into a piece of literary work. That is to say, the mental state of the writer, who is the main body in creation, would act directly on the whole process of creation, affecting the face of the literary works directly. Therefore, same material of social lifewould be treated differently in terms of topic, implication and aesthetic appreciationby writers with different mental states. The creation psychology of writers would havea direct effect on the style and features of their works, as well as the aesthetic tastecontained. Thus, with same theme in mind, and unique creation psychology thatderives from the mingling of many factors, different writers write with differentliterature objectives, conveying different aesthetic feelings to the readers. As one ofthe ancient Chinese classics puts, when inner-contained, it is emotion, while writtenout, poetry. Poems are the condensation of a writer emotions and the convergence ofhis thoughts. Therefore, we can get a far more thorough understanding of the meaningand value contained in literary works through a study of the mental state of writers. The mental state of a writer is sometimes stable and sometimes variable. Whenstable, it is called Pre-existing Mentality and when variable, it is Temporary Mentality. In general, the former is formed during the long-term social life while the latter occursoccasionally as a variation. The two mental states interact and form a writer creationpsychology, which is absolutely complicated. This paper is intended to do a basicdescription and a tentative analysis of CHI Li creation psychology of simplicity andplainness in the course of actual creation, focusing mainly on the writer pre-existingmentality.As an outstanding representative of neo-realism, CHI Li presents a distinctivecreation psychology that transcend common life. This paper starts with a study on awriter general creation psychology to show what an important role creationpsychology plays during the creation process, and then penetrate CHI Li, as anindividual, through studies on physiological mechanisms, such as cholerictemperament, melancholic temperament, body type, blood type, etc. and livingenvironment, such as natural environment, social context and cultural background, tofigure out the cause of her unique creation psychology. Meanwhile, the paper studieson the two types of aesthetic perspectives presented distinctly in her works, whichinfluenced by her creation psychology of transcending life. The two perspectives arerespectively the annoying confrontation and the relief growing out of failed settlement.Such aesthetic appearance seemingly contradictory and mutually transformationalruns through all the works of CHI Li. In the last part, the paper returns to the text, andgives an analysis on the value and meaning of CHI Li creation psychology, which istranscending common life, to the description of Wuhan region, to modern literaryworld and to structuring narrative discourse with ecological features.
