This article is concerned about Chi Li's novel creation. Chi Li is the representative writer at the age when market times and civic culture were emerging. By analyzing her several masterpieces, the imprint of the times, basic features and her unique position in the literary world are all shown.Taking a sweeping view of Chinese literature in the 1980s, you will find out that"new realism novel"is an inevitable fact. Among many writers of"new realism novel", Chi Li can be deemed as their representative. Her novels are all based on Wuhan with unique layout and convention and mainly recapture the life and emotion of urban petty bourgeois. What's more important, she advocates in her novels a life philosophy: only if you have the ability and courage to survive any situation, you will be the strong. Her form of expression breaks down old rules of novel creation, which made her one of the representative writers of"new realism novel". She has made great contributions to today's literary world of China and a large number of her novels become the representative writers of"new realism novel". In 1990s'Chinese literature, there emerged the tendency of transition and split. During the process, the ever-existing literary school was inevitably divided with many realism writers like Chi Li changing their directions. We choose and analyze Chi Li's works, explore the formation, development and divergence of new realism novel as well as many problems arising in the process, all of which are based on the indispensable and unique role of Chi Li's creation on"new realism novel", although the special meaning may be completely unconscious.The passage explains Chi Li's novel creation in three parts. The analysis of the several representative works of Chi Li further shows the meaning and unique value of Chi Li and her creation in the literary history.
