Chinese landscape painting has a long history,in its course of development,ithas formed its own unique aesthetic sentiment and performance style,also ithas formed a full system of painting theory.The use of brush an ink,spaceperformance are the two most pivotal and basic aspects in the formation ofChinese landscape painting’s uniqueness. Former researcher foundout,that,after about Song Dynasty brush and ink started to appear as a separateconcept.Due to the preference and favor of painters of ages,especially of thescholar painters,there are quantities of discussion on brush hand ink inpainting theory.They are really extensive and profound.When contemporaryscholars research or discuss the uniqueness of Chinese landscape painting,theyalso put their emphasis on brush and ink,so it becomes the substitute for ofresearch on brush and ink,we ignore the discussion and discovery of spaceconstruction. Though the fact is so, there were simple discussions on spaceconstruction in painting.As early as Tang Dynasty,(618-907), Zhang Yanyuanbrush said in his book“The arrangement of Places are of great importance inpainting” Compared with the research on brush and ink,early discussions onspace construction are really insufficient in quantity and depth. With theprogress and development of time,more and more people start to focus on spatialperformance in Chinese traditional painting. Construction of space sense ina painting is one of the main factors in Chinese landscape painting,and it isalso one of the form performance skills. At the same time, it is a basicrequirement of aesthetic consciousness and visual habit. Wang Meng(1308-1385),who lived between the end of Yuan Dynasty(1271-1368)and the four Yuan famouspainters. He is a great painter in inheritance form the former and enlighteningthe later. In the development history of great influence on Ming Dynasty,WingDynasty(1636-1912) and also present age. With research on Wang Meng,mostscholars put their emphasis on his life, character of his times, skills of histimes, skills of brush and ink, inheritance of his style and features, and alsoon the authenticity of his paintings etc. Now there are also some scholars whostudy his visionary space. In the process of my learning and research, I focusmore on the space interpretation of Wang Meng’ paintings after summarizingpresent research achievement. On the space construction,Wang Meng is reallya great painter.In this paper,I utilize Wang Meng’s representative work“Qing Bian reclusive figure”as a basis, after comparing it with related worksof the same period,I elaborated my understanding of his paintings from severalaspects in the manner of spanning space-time. These aspects include,space-timeevolution, characters of the times,space of brush and ink, schema construction.
