Zhou Zuoren’s literary theory takes "human literature" as center. This article examsZhou’s opinion on literature by exploring the source of his literary thought, in order to sortout the factors that have played a role in the formation of his literary view. On this basis,the author explores the relation between humanism and Christian culture as "humanliterature" is the core concept of Zhou’s literary view. Furthermore, the article explores howmuch influence Christian concepts have been made in Zhou’s literary view.This paper is divided into three parts::first, it presents the ideological source of Zhou’sliterary view. By evaluating previous studies, this paper intends to present the formation ofZhou’s literary view. In this chapter, the author discusses the influence of traditionalChinese culture, ideological thought around New Culture Movement, and Japanese cultureon Zhou’s view, by the method of examining the historical background of Zhou Zouren, sothat the analysis will be more comprehensive and objective.Second, it discusses humanism in the history of western thought, which is one of thesources of Zhou’s literary idea as well as the basis of Zhou’s literary theory, so as to findout the particular relation between Zhou’s view and humanism. In this chapter, the authorstarts with discussing the complicated relation between Western thought and Christianity.Furthermore, the author makes efforts to explore Zhou’s unique humanism thought, so as tofind out that to what degree Christianity has influenced his thought.Third, this article comes to discuss factors of Christianity that have helped to shapeZhou Zuoren’s "human literature". Zhou’s humanism plays an irreplaceable role on hisliterary view. On one hand, the "human race" concept in his view is related to humanism infirst place, related to Christianity in second place. What’s more, Zhou’s view ofsex-literature bond is obviously influenced by Christianity.In summary, the article proves that Zhou Zuoren’s literary view is based on hishumanism thought, and his literary view is influenced by Christianity.
