Creative Thinking Positive Emotions Affect Completion Of The Task

Positive emotions make people feel good and enjoyable,which in turn has the effect of individual’s cognition and thought. In recent years,even though researches on the effect of emotions with creative thinking have flourished,the conclusions are not consistent.This research probe into the impact of emotions on individual’s creative thinking, and whether there were autonomic specificity between different kinds of induction emotions in the laboratory.Two experiments explored the relation between emotions and creativity in this study. In study1recruits86college students, they were asked to image/recall some situation to induce their emotions(happy,sad).Then investigate the relation between emotions and creativity by remote association test. Study2recruits108college students; inquire into the impact of mood induced by watching videos (happy, relax, neutral mood, sad, anger) on one’s score of individual creative thinking; and the difference in fluency, flexibility and originality of creative thinking. To record subjects’ heart rate, finger temperature and skin potential by Biopac16.0. The variability of heart rate is analyzed, in order to probe into one’s autonomic nervous activity pattern in different emotions.The results are as follows:1.Emotions induced by image/recall have significant influence on individuals’ creativity.Positive emotion produce more creativity in remote association test than neutral controls and negative emotion,but no significant differences between neutral controls and negative emotions.2.Emotions induced by videos have significant influence on individuals’ creativity. Positive emotions (happy,relax) produce more creativity than neutral controls and negative emotions,but no significant differences between neutral controls and negative emotions.3.On the determinants of fluency,originality and flexibility, different kinds of emotions have significant differences.Positive emotions participants exhibited much more fluency than neutral controls and negative emotions,no significant differences between neutral controls and negative emotions.About originality,relax participants significant better than others;participants in happy better than anger; no significant differences between neutral and negative emotions.On the determinants of flexibility,relax participants significant better than neutral and negative emotions,no significant differences between happy and relax.4.There were significant differences between emotion induction procedure and baseline.Skin potential had grow significant higher in happy participants,finger temperature had been significant higher in relax and anger,then neutral controls significant lower,in relax term heart rate had grow significant higher.The results of heart rate variability illustrated that happy participants’LF significant decreased,neutral’s HF significant increased,the LF/HF significant increased; participants in anger whose HF significant decreased.
