"Color terms" is an integrated part of vocabulary. It could easily arouse the learning enthusiasm of Chinese learners because of the rich and concrete expressions and diversified cultural connotation. Colors are often used to represent different seasons, festivals and customs in our daily life. So that color terms, as a special cultural medium, has an irreplaceable position in TCSL and cultural exchanges. Foreign students will have one more access to get the knowledge of Chinese history, culture, value, as well as customs. This paper selected five basic colors and their social meanings as the research objects. Combing with actual teaching, a further discussion on teaching methodology of color terms and its cultural permeation will be made, in order to resolve the relevant problems in teaching practices.This paper can be divided in the following six chapters:The first chapter is the introduction of the research status of color terms teaching, and the relevant views of scholars in home and abroad on it. Problems would be diagnosed and the analytical meaning of this paper would be found.The second chapter is the introduction of different colors and color terms. The origin and formation of basic colors would be analyzed.The third chapter is the discussion of dictionary meaning, social meaning and symbolic meaning of five basic colors, the importance of cultural permeation in color terms teaching would be proved.The fourth chapter points out four insufficiencies at present in color terms teaching, namely,1. Color term teaching is unsystematical;2. Cultural teaching receives insufficient attention3. Teaching content is outmoded and teaching methods are rigid;4. Views of internationalization should be stressed.The fifth chapter, combining the teaching practice, puts forwards four teaching strategies in order to resolve the problems in color terms teaching:1. On the stage of teaching, systematic introduction of color terms and its cultural meaning will be made.2. Colors and its cultural meanings will be introduced according to national differences of Chinese learners.3. Classes arrangement:equal attention would be paid on culture and language teaching.4. Teaching strategy:reasonable teaching content and diversified teaching model will be used. The conclusion summarizes this paper, and highlights the importance of color terms teaching with cultural permeation, i.e. the cultural glamour will be shown in the process of Chinese teaching, which is also one of the functions of TCSL.
