Youguaishitan is an important work of "poetry fiction" in the late Ming dynasty. It isworthy of analysis in many aspects. For instance, types of works, thematic connotationsand artistic features and so on. However, because this book is not widespread, therehave been not a specialized study on this book so far. This paper seeks to conduct arelatively comprehensive, detailed and systematic study on Youguaishitan, the papermainly discusses compiling background, types of works, thematic connotations,artistic features and the fictional value of Youguaishitan. This paper mainly divided intofour chapters to discuss.The first chapter: the compiling background of Youguaishitan. This chapter is dividedinto two sections: the first section, the situations of the times. This section mainlydiscusses this question from the situations of politics, economy and culture, the growthof townspeople class, the prosperity of publishing industry and book market in lateMing dynasty. The second section, the change of people’s attitudes towards fiction andthe development of fiction itself. This section mainly discusses this question from thechange of people’s attitudes towards fiction, the elegance of classical fictions, theevolution of "poetry fiction", the prosperity of classical fiction series and fictionanthology.The second chapter: the situations of the compiling and spread of Youguaishitan. Thischapter is divided into two sections: the first section, the compiling and spread ofYouguaishitan.
