| Lyudmila Petrushevskaya is one of the leading figures of contemporary Russianliterature. Her writing focuses on the themess of the survival, death and love about women.Therefore, Petrushevskaya is categorized as feminist writers. She is called “Three sets ofcarriage of Russian woman’s literature†with Uhlitzkaya and Tolstaya.This paper attempts to make a deep analysis of the realistic themes and the post-modernartistic techniques in the works of Petrushevskaya from the perspective of inheritance andbreakthrough.This paper consists of introduction, Chapter I, Chapter II and Conclusion.The introduction section outlines the life story and the writing experiences ofPetrushevskaya, introduces the current states of Russian, western, Chinese researches on thePetrushevskaya’s writing, and elaborates the research methods, relevant theories, researchdifficulties and innovations in the paper.The first chapter talks about the continuation and breakthrough of the realistic themes.We believe that the characteristics of themess in themess of the Petrushevskaya’s writing areas follows: on the one hand, the writer delivers the eschatological ideas and the Messianicconsciousness which are unique to Russian intellects and passed on from generation togeneration, inherits the good humanitarian traditions of Russian writers; on the other hand, thewriter subvert the image of the ’eternal woman’ in the traditional Russian literature with boldinnovative spirit and superb writing skills, and deconstructs the ’ideal nation’ propagandizedby the government based on women’s life at the same time.Chapter II talks about the inheritance and innovation of artistic techniques. Thecharacteristics of Petrushevskaya’s artistic techniques are as follows: on the one hand, thewriter employs paradoxes, the traditional narrative techniques like classic dialogues,traditional rhetorical devices such as metaphors, symbols, and she also makes a lot of boldinnovations by setting all of the traditional artistic techniques in the post-modern context sothat the traditional artistic techniques could be innovated when they are inherited; on the otherhand, the writer uses abundunt spoken language, forms the typical language features of thepost-modernist text by mixing many language registers such as spoken language, writtenlanguage and official business style all together, and she works on various genres such asnovels, fairy tales and drama, and createss the works with her own style, such as a series ofshort films, realistic fairy tales, and music long poem. Overall, the artistic techniques ofPetrushevskaya’s are more like the post-modern style, which is significantly embodied in thelanguage styles and genre innovation in her works.The conclusion section makes a brief summary of the whole paper. |
