Abstract/Summary:
The idiom is a important part of language vocabulary, and numeral idiom is a comparatively special language phenomenon in idiom. China emphasizes numeral culture. Different numbers stand for different meanings. Differ from intricate and obsure in general idiom, meanings of numeral idiom become more vivid due to numeral ingredients.The paper includes three parts. Combining with statistics about numeral idioms in the idiom dictionary, the first part briefly analyses the characteristics of numeral idiom.It includes four forms, such as single number, double numbers and three or four numbers.Among them, the form of double numbers is used frequently.According to the relationship between double numbers, this form can be invided into four forms, for instance, neighbour numbers, times, close numbers and far number.In terms of meanings, it attempts to sum up separation of meanings of numeral idiom according to difference in numbers.The second part firstly discusses current situation of numeral idiom in the Teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the basis of teaching materials and HSK in order to illustrate the reason of teaching numeral idiom in the advanced stage of learning Chinese.At the moment, it reflects some problems, such as the lack of vocabulary and practise.Finally, it is the key point of the whole thesis. Some sentences of language errors will be selected from HSK corpus. Through considering these errors, the characteristics can be divided into four aspects, such as forms, semantics, grammar and pragmatics.Then difficulties of teaching numeral idiom will be summarized by analyzing the reasons and specialties of these errors.The third part proposed teaching methods in four aspects combining error sentences with the characteristics of numeral idiom.It includes character teaching, semantic teaching, grammar teaching and pragmatics teaching. Also, it attemps to eliminate the difficulties of teaching numeral idiom according to examples, questions and describing.As a result, students abroad can master Chinese numeral idiom in a relaxed and recreational atmosphere.Then using reasonable practise encourages them to take the initiative to apply Chinese numeral idiom in daily life as well as writing. Moreover, it can deepen their understanding of Chinese culture.
