Chinese parallel structure idioms,as the focus of international Chinese language teaching, play an important role that cannot be ignored in international Chinese language teaching. The Chinese ABAC structure is a special type of coordinate structure, where the first character of two parallel terms is the same. This type of idiom is not only used frequently, but also has a relatively high error rate for foreign students when using such structural idioms, with complex and diverse types of errors. This paper takes 30 Chinese ABAC parallel structure idioms in the glossary of the latest edition of the International Chinese Language Education Chinese Level Standards issued by the State Language Commission of the Ministry of Education in 2021 as the research object.Through error retrieval of different corpora,it is found that their error types mainly focus on external structural form errors, syntactic errors, semantic errors, writing errors and mixed errors.Through exhaustive analysis of these erroneous language materials,we believe that the main reasons for the errors are as follows:foreign students are not clear about the structural combination and relevant positional principles of idioms, have biases in understanding the semantics of idioms, and have diverse functions of Chinese idioms and the complexity of Chinese character writing. Finally, this article proposes suggestions for improving the teaching of Chinese ABAC parallel structure idioms in terms of their external structural form, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and writing.
