Unexpected Visual Performance

In the current visual communication among the diverse contexts of arts,“glitch design” is an emerging graphic design phenomenon. Designers create, accept and use the mistakes appeared during the design process under the instruction of designers’ abnormal design philosophy, pursuing an unpredictable and unexpected visual performance. In fact, the “glitch design” is a reflection of postmodernism, which is against the modern socialist with the attitude of excessively rationalization and standardization, emphasizes the humanity of the design and the cutting‐edge personality, and seeks unconventional and subjective design performance. Through analyzing the cases of “glitch design” performances, explaining how the “glitch design” got accepted and appreciated and discussing its relevant design philosophy, this thesis is aimed at the prospect of the design future of brand‐new visual experience, at the delivery of an unconventional and abnormal aesthetical standard and design methods, and at the expectation to provide theoretical and practical basis for researches of younger generation in the field of current visual communication design.
