Tseng Kwong Chi with its unique photography and performance art in one of the art creation caused the attention of the international art world. After his death in1990, his works was constantly be exhibited and collected by some major art Museum and attracted more attention, art critic of American society have started to pay attention to his unique "artistic practice".Wearing Chinese mao suit and dark glasses, with a identification which written "slut for art", Tseng Kwong Chi show people the image of its oriental, with his peculiar dress, shuttled in the well-known scenic sites of the Western world, took a self portrait with his performances meant at each scenic sites. Mentioned Tseng Kwong Chi will reminiscent of his self-portrait, but often covered small half sunglasses that reminds us he did not want his image be see as a specific individual but to a certain type of person, such person is Western world"." His artistic practice is one of his "expeditions", a virtual "expeditionary" of the Western world.Tseng Kwong Chi photographic works in a delicate visual representation of his "expedition" to let the viewer visually exquisite and delicate that Tseng Kwong Chi is a photographic artist, photos of his works of art. Only analysis Tseng concept of art through the photos will ignore his "expeditionary" process which also is his art practice.Looking at the practice of his art, and naturally we think of his artistic practice is belongs to the category of performance art. Performance art of particularity need a good photography "stand-in" to record and preserve its mission as a "stand-in" to the art itself "clearly is not. From Tseng Kwong Chi as an example to explore the relationship between play roles in photography art and photography and Performance art a subordinate position of photography in performance art.
