The Kucong People’s Shepa Festival In Zhenyuan County

This article takes the Kucong people’s Shepa Festival in Zhenyuan County Yunnan province as the research object, aims to compare and study the Shepa Festival of Kucong people in the Ailao Mountain Area and the inheritance and change of Kucong people’s Shepa Festival in relocated New Kucong Village, investigates the inheritance direction of traditional culture in the present context and reflects the development and change of Kucong people’s living in recent years through the special angle of festival culture.The thesis consists of five parts. The introduction part introduces the origin and meaning of the thesis, sums up literature review of Kucong people and festival culture transition and explains research methods mainly used. The first chapter is about the history and culture of Kucong people. From three aspects of historical development, Kucong people’s daily life and system of public cultural time, it researches Kucong people’s life and culture in holism approach and highlights the special position of Shepa Festival in Kucong people’s public cultural time system. The second chapter is about Ailaoshan Kucong people’s Shepa Festival. It concretely discusses the origin and development of Shepa Festival of Kucong people living in the Ailao Mountain Area, the spirits in the festival and festival’s operation mode. It also analyses the culture functions of Shepa Festival played in the Ailaoshan Kucong people’s daily life as holding the village community together, maintaining social relations and sustaining mate selection. The third chapter, the Shepa Festival in the New Kucong Village. The New Kucong Village is the Kucong people’s relocation and resettlement villages. The Kucong people living in it experience great changes in their life and culture, which means that research on the Shepa Festival here is important to explore the developing trend of Kucong people’s Shepa Festival at present. This chapter starts from the daily life in New Kucong Village, the development and the current situation of Shepa Festival and the mode of operation, finally points out that New Kucong Village has the culture functions of constructing a new identity through festival symbol’s generation and meeting the ethnic’s political demands on equality. The fourth chapter is analysis on the inheritance approach of Shepa Festival in contemporary context. First of all, it analyses on the inheritance situation of the Shepa Festival and points out the ritual changes and function conversion of the festival ceremony. Secondly, it explains Shepa Festival’s transition on the reasons of two aspects as the era encounter of national culture Renaissance and cultural elite’s intervention. Finally, it explores the future of Kucong people’s Shepa Festival and points out the importance of constructing festival culture brand and strengthening participation in the festival.
