The "four centers" construction of Shanghai International Economic Center,Financial Center, Trade Center and Shipping Center provides opportunities forbusiness English professional development of Shanghai Higher Vocational Colleges,and also puts forward new requirements. But Shanghai Higher Vocational Colleges’business English professional development is not satisfactory. The paper takesShanghai3different types of Higher Vocational Colleges for example. Throughquestionnaires, interviews and other methods, it carries a more comprehensivesurvey on the present situation of business English professional construction ofShanghai Higher Vocational Colleges, then diagnoses and analyzes its existingproblems, and finally recommends some improvement suggestions.Survey shows that there exist some problems in the business Englishprofessional construction of Shanghai Higher Vocational Colleges: specialtyorientation is not clear; occupational characteristic of curriculum system is notprominent; the definition and cohesion of professional curriculum system betweenhigher vocational colleges and middle vocational schools is not clear; curriculumdesign is not reasonable; teaching method is backward, which cannot meet theactual needs of enterprises; the building of “Double Title” Teaching Staff appears tolag behind; And the professional construction and curriculum development lacksenterprise participation effectively, etc. Based on the survey of the regional economicdevelopment and enterprise talent demand, this paper puts forward that: businessEnglish professional construction in Shanghai Higher Vocational Colleges shouldestablish cultivating practical professional talents as professional construction goal;deepen the reform of curriculum system and teaching content; according to theability module, renew the content of the higher vocational English course; adopt theopen type of teaching using the business scene training base, for reaching zerodistance of post English use; strengthen the construction of the module curriculum;On the basis of subject curriculum reform, make the necessary curriculum integration;build “Double Title” business English professional teaching staff; strengthen the construction of business English professional training base, establishing practiceteaching objectives focusing on the cultivation of students innovation ability; persistin combining theory with practice, strengthen the students application ability ofprofessional skills; Create conditions and encourage students to pass variousvocational qualification certifications; realize the job docking between collegespecialty and enterprise post, precisely grasping enterprise demand for neededtalents; vigorously popularize the practice teaching, progressing the construction ofcampus practice project; expanding the social cooperation, increasing studentspractice opportunities; perfecting campus practice teaching evaluation system, etc.The development history of higher vocational business English specialty is notlong, but development potentiality is enormous. Higher vocational educationbusiness English specialty must face regional economy and take enterprise demandsfor guidance. The setting of curriculum system should not only embody vocationalcharacteristics but also achieve higher vocational education level. The reform ofhigher vocational business English specialty should be a continual and dynamicprocess; should adjust its professional development direction with the demands ofenterprise and post, cultivating qualified talents in the real service of the regionaleconomy development.
