Sichuan Opera has a long history, and it’s a brilliant pearl in Chinese traditional opera. As one of the top ten operas in the first "Exquisite Projects of National Stage Art", Sichuan Opera "Gold" is a representative in the modern Sichuan opera, it processes moving melody and rich Sichuan style. Owing to that, this play is a landmark in the Sichuan Opera art. However, the majority of the present theoretical research is focus on general comments, the study of its music field is not rich or comprehensive. So this thesis chooses the inheritance and innovation of Sichuan opera "Gold" that come from the High-pitched tunes of Sichuan opera and Sichuan folk songs as a new perspective, attempts to expand the study on Sichuan opera " Gold " in musicology.This thesis can be divided into three chapters, chapter one grasp the general knowledge of Sichuan opera and the "Gold", mainly discusses the music features of High-pitched tunes of Sichuan opera and the general characteristics of the music in the "Gold". Chapter two researches the inheritance and innovation of "Gold" of High-pitched tune of Sichuan opera, and this can be divided into two categories:the inheritance and innovation from single tune, and the comprehensive application and innovation of tunes. The former is mainly research the special tone of the main tune that have been absorbed and utilized in aria and join in singing behind the stage.The latter is mainly research the special tone of the same tune with different forms as well as different tunes, in transverse、longitudinal、vertical and horizontal theses three integrated ways on innovative forms, effectively extend the natural mono morphology. The third chapter discusses the inheritance and innovation of the "Gold" of Sichuan folk music, focusing on the respectively discussion of the two folk song theme. The first theme "A Longing-for Sophora Japonica Far from Hill" and the second theme "Ficus Virens’ are presented relatively complete in the prelude and the end, while both of them are shown as various variant in the field of music developing. In addition to the above two songs throughout of the development in singing、join in singing behind the stage and accompaniment, there is another folk "Yellow MaMa Brother "that only displayed once in the theatre, which is represented as the added new phrases after prototype by the join in singing behind the stage, and is conducted the background music of stage.In a word, Sichuan Opera "Gold" displays the absorption and diffusion of the High-pitched tunes of Sichuan opera and Sichuan folk songs in the aria, join in singing behind the stage, and accompaniment, highlighting the "personality" of inheriting the tradition and having the courage to make innovations.
