| Artistic imagination, as a subtle mental activity, can break through and destroy the barriers of time and space, connecting with the fabric of life to express emotion through fabrication, fantasy, composition, and separation of images, while recording fragments of one’s existence. Uniting diverse elements such as emotion, visual representation of memory and perception, the painted image has maintained both a pronounced temporal quality and narrative nature throughout history. In our era, artistic imagination within the medium of contemporary ink and wash painting extends the qualities of "water" and "ink" to reflect modern life, maintaining the traditional precepts of traditional ink and wash painting while pursing further expansion of new medias, expressing the fullest essence of "water" and "ink" and giving our era its own proper space for reflection. This text aims to briefly analyze the context of the development of artistic imagination, and its pluralistic manifestation within the realm of Chinese painting creation. |
